Research
The Canadian Foundation for Infectious Diseases is a registered charity committed to improving the health of Canadians through the support of research and dissemination of knowledge pertaining to the prevention, diagnosis, control and treatment of infectious diseases. The Foundation works closely with other infectious disease organizations such as the Association of Medical Microbiology and Infectious Diseases Canada (AMMI Canada) and the Community and Hospital Infection Control Association of Canada (CHICA-Canada).

Members of AMMI Canada and CHICA-Canada are comprised of medical microbiologists, infectious disease specialists and infection control practitioners. This group of highly qualified professionals promote excellence in the study of the epidemiology and pathogenesis of infectious diseases; clinical and laboratory diagnosis; and the management and prevention of infectious diseases through education, research and advocacy.

Together, CFID, AMMI Canada and CHICA-Canada proactively support the essential work of Canada's best specialists in the area of infectious diseases. Through corporate and individual donations, the Foundation provides the funding to sustain our varied research programs including summer undergraduate student research projects, pilot research projects, fellowship programs and awards for excellence in research and mentoring.

CFID is facilitating the discovery of innovative and effective solutions to identify, treat, control and prevent existing and emerging infectious diseases. The result is healthier communities in Canada and around the globe with reduced risk of developing, spreading and succumbing to infectious diseases - today and in the future.
